av-ceptor™-hiv

GenPhar's AV-Ceptor™-HIV is an assay for the determination of chemokine coreceptor usage by HIV-1 virus.  The HIV-1 life cycle begins with viral binding and entry into target cells, mediated by interactions of the viral glycoprotein (gp 120) with receptors on the surface of target cells.   In addition to the CD4 receptor, CCR5 and CXCR4 are acknowledged as the most important co-receptors for HIV-1 entry.  GenPhar’s AV-Ceptor™-HIV assay uses indicator cells to ascertain chemokine coreceptor preferences – CCR5, CXCR4, or dual tropism.

  • Can be utilized to determine HIV coreceptor preference of individual viral isolates.
  • Can be used to developing drugs (antagonist) that block the coreceptors needed for HIV entry.
  • Cutting-edge tool used in evaluation of antagonist compounds.
  • Applicable to the evaluation of potential clinical trial populations for susceptibility to candidate antagonist compounds.
